A field must have a caption

Control Statement: A field added by the organisation must have a human-readable caption.

Description: Where a field has no caption, Creatio displays its code name instead. This control requires a caption on every field the organisation added, so what a user sees is a label rather than an identifier.

Fields still carrying a placeholder name are covered by CIB-NAME-001 and are not counted twice here.

Rationale: This is the cheapest control in the catalogue to satisfy and one of the most visible to ignore. The caption is what appears in the page, the list, the filter, the report and the export — so an uncaptioned field is unreadable everywhere at once, to everybody, forever, in exchange for the minute nobody spent naming it.

Audit Procedure:

1. Enumerate the fields on objects the organisation added or extended.
2. Record every field whose displayed caption is identical to its code name.
3. Exclude fields already reported under CIB-NAME-001.

Remediation:

1. Add a caption to each field, in the languages the instance is used in.
2. Prioritise fields that appear on a page or in a list — those are seen most.
3. Add captioning to the routine for adding a field, so the backlog stops growing.

Default Value: Creatio does not require a caption when a column is created, and falls back to displaying the code name where none exists.
